I think the interesting thing about the (Democratic) primaries is that most people, even those who are die hard in their support for their candidate, don't want either candidate to lose because of the historic nature of their candidacy. For too long, people have voted against candidates instead of for them. This time, they very much have to decide who they want to win, not who they want to lose.
That said, I think the candidates' behavior has decided this election more certainly than any ad or media bias. Sen. Obama has focused on the issues that are important to him, and the problems he sees with the other candidates' issues. Sen. Clinton, on the other hand, has focused less on the issues and more on the political maneuvering, much to her detriment. To me, it boils down to Sen. Obama focuses on the issues that are important to Sen. Obama, and Sen. Clinton focuses on smearing Sen. Obama, and the people are tired of smear politics.

I think that Ohbama will make a better president

not becuase he his a man and he's running against

a women but because he seems like he can change

america for the better. The way he speaks about

change and what he will do to better america I think

he is what we need in office to get America back on

its feet.My only concern is will he get assassinated

while he's on office. He his a black man who will

have power over the whole country

and the first black man as a president if he wins

the race.

In the current political race that is going on , there is a canidate that has let his mouth override his butt. One of the canidates on the Republician side made a comment that shocked the media. He stated that those who did not vote for him would have their tires deflated. Even though this comment was probably said in jest, this kind of statement is one that should not be made in such a situation as serious as the presidential races. This can cause many difficult conflicts with the political contestant. Many people could take this comment as a serious threat and when people think that their leaders or potential leaders are making threats to their livelyhood that could cause a lack in votes

It is believed that Hispanics will play a key role in the Texas Democratic primary. Sen. Hillary Clinton is targeting what appears to be a more older crowd while Sen. Barack Obama is believed to be looking to gain the vote of younger Hispanic voters. Whatever the case, Clinton is considered to be the favorite amongst the Hispanic community. A poll showed Clinton to be viewed favorably by 76% of respondents while 66% favored Obama.

It is also believed that Clinton needs to win either Texas or Ohio. If she was to loose both, then analyst say that she should drop out of the presidential race.

During the presidential primaries this year McCain has led the Republicans, with a pretty good lead, throughout the primary season. McCain took the nomination Tuesday after Huckabe stepped back. However, on the Democratic side Obama has led in the race with a descent lead but Clinton is gaining and Obama has lost his momentum. With the Democrats still slugging it out, McCain has time to unite the party and plan for the upcoming Presidential election. However, this is a doubled edged sword. The Democrats are still hashing it out and are divided, but they will still be in the spot light until the Democratic nomination is set. McCain will be out of the picture and slip to the back of the newspaper page by page as the fight continues between the Democrats. This could potentially hurt the Republican in the Presidential race; more than likely though this will hurt the Democrats more because they are divided. One thing is for sure, if the Democrats do win the Presidency look for U.S. jobs be cut and to go overseas because they both want to raise taxes on corporations and the wealthy. Raising taxes on the wealthy would not affect the jobs and may help the economy; however raising taxes on corporations could kill our economy which is not doing fairly well right now.

Carl Von Clausewitz said "War is politics by other means." Well, the politics are getting nasty.

In an attempt to bridge the distance between the two democratic campaigns, and in part due to a request for her tax information, a Clinton staffer said Obama was like Kenn Starr.

Obama made no comments regarding the remarks.

When an Obama staffer was quoted by a journalist calling Senator Clinton "a monster", Clinton was upset by the comment and the Obama staffer apologized and resigned.

Two comments. Two totally different responses.

If I were Obama, I would have said "Ken Starr investigated a president who lied in office, Ken Starr investigated dresses with stains on them, he investigated Whitewater, he investigated a president who DID have sex with that woman, he investigated a president who forgot what the definition of is was, he created a log jam in government and prevented Congress from performing its duties all for a witch hunt. Senator Clinton, I wasn't going to bring up the scandals in you in your husbands time in the White House--but since you brought it up!"

I guess I'm a little behind in these posts...

I can't begin what the rest of the world thinks about our elections.

Here we are with our primaries finally in the death throes and the democratic party is already slinging mud on each other. Keep it up guys, it only fuels the Republicans. On the other hand maybe Nader will get the democratic vote instead...

My favorite online news source
The Australian
has some ideas about it in a beer poll...

Apparently other countries do care...

Has a new Cold War begun over oil that could lead to conflict?
Perhaps not a Cold War at this time, but at any given time the present conflict can rise to signifigant proprtions. Because of involvement with Iraq for the past decade, some say we must keep an eye out for Iran or Afghanistan. But it isnt those countries per se that we have to keep watch over, but the power and influence of the larger countries that depend on oil. Michael Klare says that the biggest powers are pushing influence through the use of arms--that this is indirectly risking relations that would lead to proxies clashing involving the US and China. With China's status as a growing market of technological and manufactoring advances, their competition for oil and energy only exacerbates an already volatile situation. Maybe this sounds overly simplistic, but we should put more money into funding alternative energy sources. If we can decrease our dependence for oil and the ridiculous prices a barrel fetches, we may actually take back the power we think we have had over the Middle East. Its still a matter of supply and demand, and no matter how we look at it, they have the supply and we demand.

In my opinion, Barack Obama is quite different than any one else who is running for the presidency.
I really think he can bring America together and fix many things that Bush Administration has destroyed. i think he will succeed to improve a bad image of America around the world. If Barrack wins, world might look upon us in a positive way.
